According to news from this site on September 19, although ASUS is not large in the smartphone market, it has many patents that can help the company generate revenue.

Recently, Asus filed a lawsuit against Samsung for infringing its 4G/5G wireless communication patents. Asus has accused Samsung of infringing its wireless communications patents on multiple 4G/5G smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Flip 5, DigiTimes reported. It is reported that this is because Asus and Samsung have not reached an agreement on patent licensing fees.

ASUS recently formed ASUS Technology Licensing and Innovative Acoustics Ltd., which owns all of Asus’ patents and is the subject of a lawsuit filed in the Eastern District Court of Texas. This site noted that the lawsuit involves a wireless communications patent (U.S. Patent No. 10,187,878), which describes a "method and device for improving transmission using configured resources in a wireless communications system" and covers many 4G and 5G smartphones .

According to RPX Insight, this is a standard essential patent and typically such lawsuits take years to come to an outcome.
