(Nweon October 19, 2023) Despite the setback in the enterprise AR market and the dissolution of the enterprise AR team ARES, which was only established for half a year, Snap is still actively developing the AR field. Recently, the company partnered with the immersive XR learning platform Inspirit to use Snapchat's AR development platform Camera Kit to build a mobile device-based AR learning experience. There will be a total of 25 interactive junior high and high school STEM teaching modules at the beginning.
By leveraging Snapchat’s AR development platform Camera Kit, relevant STEM teaching modules can provide rich digital visualizations based on course content, increasing student interest and knowledge retention through interesting interactive content, thereby helping students visualize in the real world. Master core STEM concepts such as geometry.
For this cooperation, Snap plans to provide relevant AR learning modules to at least 50 schools across the United States and continue to expand according to the situation.
Snap commented: “Augmented reality enhances conversations with friends, inspires self-expression and creativity, and brings experience and education to a new dimension. This course is designed to inspire classroom engagement, boost confidence, and improve Students’ self-efficacy.”
It is worth mentioning that the team stated that the basis of this cooperation is a case study jointly conducted by Inspirit, Snapchat and K-12 education management organization Stride in 2023. Among them, a group of eighth-grade students and teachers used Snap AR simulations and learned basic STEM concepts in eighth grade.
According to Inspirit, teachers integrate relevant tools into their teaching practices. The survey showed that 92.3% of students found the content easy to understand, while 84.6% said they had a renewed interest in STEM topics based on the use of AR. Teachers also reported positive connections with the course, including increased attention span.
