IT Home News on October 20, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced today that it will allow a series of consumer products to use the 6GHz frequency band.
Most of the previous 6GHz frequency band was limited to licensed commercial use. Apple, Microsoft, Meta and other companies applied to the FCC in 2019, requesting the unauthorized use of the 6GHz frequency band, claiming that the 6 GHz frequency band can rely on "low interference", Features such as "high speed" allow a series of devices to no longer be constrained by cables, making them "more mobile" and can also assist in surgery and barrier-free fields. This application has been approved.

It is reported that the relevant 6 GHz frequency band is mainly open to ultra-low power (Very Low Power, VLP) devices, VR, AR, motion detectors and various Internet of Things devices (IoT).
The FCC Commission believes that industry innovation "needs flexibility", but still requires a "series of regulations" to allow relevant equipment to have 6Ghz high-speed transmission capabilities. In order to protect the operation of existing equipment in the 6 GHz band, the FCC currently has stricter power consumption requirements for consumer products.
After inquiries, IT House learned that regulations allow consumer products to operate in the U-NII-5 and U-NII-7 parts of the 6 GHz frequency band, totaling 850 MHz.
