(Global TMT October 31, 2023) Microsoft and Siemens are deepening their partnership to bring the benefits of generative artificial intelligence to industries around the world. As a first step, the two companies will launch Siemens Industrial Copilot, a joint development assistant powered by artificial intelligence designed to enhance human-machine collaboration and increase productivity in manufacturing.
Siemens and Microsoft partner to drive cross-industry AI adoption
Siemens Industry Copilot will allow users to quickly generate, optimize and debug complex automation codes and significantly reduce time. This will reduce tasks that previously took weeks to completion in minutes. Copilot draws automation and process simulation information from Siemens’ open digital business platform, Siemens Xcelerator, and enhances it with Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service. Customers maintain full control over their data, and it is not used to train the underlying AI models. The two companies will work together to build more Copilot assistants for the manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation and healthcare industries.
In addition, the integration between Siemens Teamcenter product lifecycle management software and Microsoft Teams will further pave the way for the realization of the industrial metaverse. It will streamline virtual collaboration between design engineers, frontline employees and other teams across business functions. Teamcenter for Microsoft teams will be generally available starting in December 2023.
