On November 5, the Japanese branch of the 2023 RoboRAVE International Robot Conference concluded in Kaga City, Japan. Nearly 200 teams and nearly 1,000 team members from 5 countries and regions participated in the RoboRAVE Japan Chapter. The event is hosted by the Kaga City Government and co-organized by the Kaga City Board of Education, with strong support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
This Japanese chapter includes multiple robot challenge projects, expert lectures, on-site student exchanges, gift exchanges, opening and closing and award ceremonies, etc. Brian Montoya, representative of the RoboRAVE International Organizing Committee, and Mayor of Kaga City Yuan Lu and others attended the event in person and interacted with the team.
The Chinese delegation composed of nearly 50 young team members from all over the country performed well in this event. The Chinese teenagers, after three days of debugging, took on the challenge. The contestants led by junior Wang Hanran and junior high school students: Zhang Hengyi, Duan Yaoren, Zhang Zheyuan, and Xu Zechen won the super line patrol championship of the middle school group; the super racing championship of the junior high school group. High school group students: Liu Leyao, He Liufeng, and Song Qiwei won the high school group super racing championship; the high school group super line patrol champion. A total of 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze were achieved. At the same time, other teams won the first, second and third prizes respectively. The Chinese flag appeared frequently on the award podium!
RoboRAVE is an international educational robot activity originated in the United States in 2001. Because of its easy-to-use, educational and interesting characteristics, after years of development, RoboRAVE, as a world-influential popular robot conference, has dozens of chapters around the world, attracting participants from China, the United States, Canada, and Japan every year. Tens of thousands of students from more than 20 countries and regions including Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, the Czech Republic and India participated.
RoboRAVE takes "Team, Happiness, Sharing" as its slogan, and the excellent educational concepts of inquiry-based learning and project-based learning run through each of RoboRAVE's projects.
