According to news on November 9, Changan Automobile held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Thai manufacturing base in Rayong Province, Thailand, on November 8. This marked that Changan Automobile officially embarked on the road of building its first overseas production base.
The new manufacturing base will cover painting, final assembly, engine assembly, battery assembly production workshops and related supporting facilities. The design production capacity of the first phase of the project reaches 100,000 vehicles per year and is scheduled to be put into production in early 2025. After the second phase of construction is put into operation, the total production capacity of Changan Automobile's Thailand manufacturing base will reach 200,000 vehicles per year.
According to the editor’s understanding, the groundbreaking ceremony of this Thai manufacturing base not only represents an important step in Changan Automobile’s globalization strategy, but also a key part of the company’s implementation of the “Inclusiveness” plan and deep exploration of the local market in Thailand.
Previous reports showed that from January to October this year, Changan Automobile’s cumulative sales reached 2.110636 units, a year-on-year increase of 10.76%. Among them, the sales volume of self-owned brands reached 1,747,653 units, a year-on-year increase of 15.93%; the sales volume of self-owned brand passenger cars was 1,340,980 units, a year-on-year increase of 22.06%; the sales volume of self-owned brands in overseas markets was 196,873 units, a year-on-year increase of 26.17%.
