Wang Yongzhuang, director of the Hsinchu Science Park Administration, announced yesterday that the construction of the first phase of Zhuke Baoshan has been completed and the TSMC Global R&D Center will be opened this year.

The second phase of the Baoshan project is currently under construction, and TSMC's 2nm process factory 1 and 2 are being promoted at the same time. After completion, it will become TSMC's first 2nm process production base. Currently, various construction works are progressing smoothly. The first machine is expected to enter the factory in April 2024.

According to previous reports on this website, both TSMC and Samsung plan to start mass production of 2nm process chips in 2025, and the early competition between the two companies has begun.
