Steam will end support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 systems on January 1, 2024

Recently, Steam issued another notice: On January 1, 2024, Steam will officially stop supporting Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems.

Steam officials stated: After January 1, Steam clients for the above operating systems will no longer receive any type of updates (including security updates). Running Steam after support is discontinued will make you vulnerable to malware and other vulnerabilities.

However, officials also stated that Steam clients and games on older operating systems will continue to run without updates during the period when support for these systems is discontinued.

Previously, Steam had stated that it stopped supporting these old versions because the core functions of Steam depended on the embedded Google Chrome, so the latter could no longer run properly on older versions of Windows systems.

The above is the detailed content of Steam will end support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 systems on January 1, 2024. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
