As of the end of 2023 , the national railway operating mileage reached 159,000 kilometers, of which 45,000 kilometers were high-speed railways.

In 2023, the national railways completed fixed asset investment of 764.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%; 3,637 kilometers of new lines were put into operation, including 2,776 kilometers of high-speed rail, successfully completing the annual railway construction tasks.
