Here's how to let others try Apple Vision Pro
If you own an Apple Vision Pro, you're bound to get requests from friends and family to try it out. The headset is primarily designed for a single user, as its custom Light Seal fits snugly. However, Apple plans to use the built-in guest mode for the demonstration.
Apple warns that guests may not get the best fit, but Apple recommends having that person test both the Solo Knit and Dual Loop Bands. Apple recommends that guests should get their own personalized Light Seal, but Light Seals cost $200, so that's a pretty hefty added cost.
You can use Vision Pro to let guests try it out, but you need to set a password to restrict access to the application. Close apps you don't want visitors to use and open apps you want to demo.
How to start a guest user session
- Open Control Center by looking up and clicking the down button at the top of the view.
- Click the "Control Center" button to open more options.
- Click the "Guest User" button.
- Click "Allowed Apps" under the "Guest Users" window. Select from "Open apps only" to restrict access, or from "All apps and data" for unrestricted access.
- Click the Back button and then click Start. You will receive a notification telling you that you have 5 minutes to hand over the headset to the guest user. If you don't hand it over within five minutes, the guest user will be shut down and Vision Pro will be locked.
Apple says that if you tap View Mirroring in Control Center, you can see what guests see on Vision Pro on other Apple devices.
You will need to guide your guests to use Vision Pro, they may need to hold down the Digital Crown until the display aligns and a green check mark appears. Hand-eye settings will then be made so that Vision Pro responds appropriately.
How to end a guest user session
To end a guest user session, the guest simply needs to remove Vision Pro. The next time you wear Vision Pro, it will restore your personal hand-eye settings.
Guest User Options
During a Vision Pro guest session, guests can access all applications and data, or only the applications you allow. Any open app has full access, so if you open Photos, they can see your images, or in Apple Music, they can listen to your content.
Visitors will not be able to access your Apple ID, Persona or Wallet, and Apple Pay.
Visitors do have access to a range of settings, such as accessibility, the option to redo eye and hand settings, and the option to learn more about the visitor user experience.
