Noctua launches heatsink for Ampere Altra processor, expected to join regular retail product line
According to news from this website on February 15, Noctua recently launched two air-cooled radiators for the Altra processor platform of high-performance Arm processor manufacturer Ampere Computing, and stated that these products will be added in the future. Ampere Altra (Max) series processors use Ampere’s own LGA4926 socket design. We note that its CPU socket shelf is higher than the surface of the CPU, which means coolers for this platform will require a custom base.
The heat dissipators launched by Noctua this time for the Ampere Altra platform are NH-D9 AMP-4926 4U and NH-U14S AMP-4926, which adopt low twin-tower and single-tower designs respectively. Noctua states that “the AMP-4926 version of the cooler builds on the proven foundation of the DX and TR5-SP6 models and is tailored for Ampere’s LGA4926 platform, including its custom contact surface and proprietary SecuFirm2 mounting system.”
