In the next blog, we explained Linux help and user management commandslinux decompressing zip files. For help commands, the man command can get help information about commands and configuration files, and the help command can get shell external Help information for the command. We can use which to distinguish which are shell external commands and which are external commands. And basically, if we are not familiar with a certain command, we can use the command --help to view the help information more clearly. After that, we introduced the user management commands. We will use a dedicated blog to introduce the user management commands. Here is a brief introduction on how to create a new user useradd, how to change the user's password passwd and view detailed information for current login. w. Note that only the root user has permission to create a new user, and change the user password not only for the root user, but also for the user itself.
In this blog, we will continue to introduce linux commands-compression and decompression commands.
1. Compression and decompression format .gz 1. Compress the file into .gz format. Only files can be compressed: gzip
①、Command name: gzip
②、English original meaning: GNUzip
③. The path where the command is located: /bin/gzip
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Compressed files, the compressed format is .gz
⑥. Syntax: gzip [files that need to be compressed]
⑦. Compressed file format: .gz
Note: Only red flag linux files can be compressed, directories cannot be compressed; the original files will not be retained after compression
Example: We create a file tmpgz in the tmp directorylinux decompress the zip file, and then compress the file through gziptmpgz. The compressed file is tmpgz.gz
2. Unzip the .gz file: gunzip
①、Command name: gunzip
②、English original meaning: GNUunzip
③. The path where the command is located: /bin/gunzip
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Decompress compressed files in .gz format
⑥、Syntax: gunzip【Compressed file name】
Note: The original files will not be retained after decompression
Example: We decompress the previously compressed file tmpgz.gz: gunziptmpgz.gz
2. Compression and decompression format .tar.gz 1. Compress files or directories into .tar.gz format: tar-zcf
①、Command name: tar
②、English original meaning:
③. The path where the command is located: /bin/tar
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Compress files into .tar.gz format
⑥. Syntax: tar option [-zcf] [compressed file name] [directory]
-c package -v display detailed information -f specify the file name -z package and compress simultaneously
⑦. Compressed file format: .tar.gz
Example: Create a directory in the /tmp directory, then create the file a.txt in the a directory, and compress the a directory into a.tar.gz file through the tar-zcvfa.tar.gza command
Different from the subsequent gzip command, the original file or directory is retained after tar compression.
2. Unzip the .tar.gz file: tar-zxf
①、Command name: tar
②、English original meaning:
③. The path where the command is located: /bin/tar
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Decompress compressed files in the format of .tar.gz
⑥. Syntax: tar option [-zxf] [compressed file name of .tar.gz] [specify the decompressed file storage directory, the default is the current directory]
-x unpack -v display detailed information -f specify the decompressed file -z decompression example: decompress the a.tar.gz file: tar-zxfa.tar.gz
3. Compression and decompression format.zip 1. Compress files or directories into .zip format: zip
①、Command name: zip
②、English original meaning:
③. The path where the command is located: /usr/bin/zip
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Compress files or directories into .zip format
⑥. Syntax: zip option [-r] [compressed file name] [file or directory]
-rCompressed directory
⑦. Compressed file format: .zip
Example: Create a directory in the /tmp directory, and then execute the command: zip-ra.zipa to compress the a directory into a.zip file
After zip compression, the original files or directories are retained.
2. Unzip the .zip file: unzip
①、Command name: unzip
②、English original meaning:
③. The path where the command is located: /usr/bin/unzip
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Decompress compressed files in .zip format
⑥、Syntax: uzip【.zip compressed file name】
Example: Unzip a.zip file: unzipa.zip
The original file is retained after decompression
4. Compression and decompression format .bz2 1. Compress the file into .bz2 format. Only files can be compressed: bzip2
①、Command name: bzip2
②、English original meaning:
③. The path where the command is located: /usr/bin/bzip2
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Compress files into .bz2 format
⑥, Syntax: bzip2 option [-k] [File]
-kKeep the original file after forming the compressed file
⑦. Compressed file format: .bz2
Example: Create a file in the /tmp directory, and then execute the command: bzip2-ka to compress the a file into a.bz2 file.
2. Unzip the .bz2 file: bunzip2
①、Command name: bunzip2
②、English original meaning:
③. The path where the command is located: /usr/bin/bunzip2
④.Execution permission: all users
⑤. Function description: Decompress compressed files in .bz2 format
⑥, Syntax: bunzip2 option [-k] [Compressed file]
-kKeep the original file after decompressing it
Example: Decompress the a.bz2 file: bunzip2a.bz2
Without parameter k, the original file will not be retained after decompression
5. Summary
In this blog we introduce several commands for compressing and decompressing files. The most commonly used command is the tar command. Since many source code packages today are in .tar.gz format, decompression can be completed through tar-zxvf. Then, for files in .zip format, use the gunzip command to decompress them. For files in .zip format, use the unzip command to decompress them. Finally, for larger files, we use the bunzip2 command to decompress them.
