News from this site on February 23, if you have used a Chromebook notebook, you may have noticed that its keyboard looks "softer" than other keyboards. This is because every letter on the Chromebook keyboard appears in lowercase, while other keyboards use uppercase. Google recently revealed the reasoning behind this, and it sounds like it makes sense.

This site noticed that Google explained the concept behind this design on its blog "The Keyword". This idea originated from Google's thinking about how to design an easy-to-use keyboard. Keyboards often come with many keys that people rarely, if ever, use, so the company wanted to design a more user-friendly keyboard with a streamlined layout. That's when they figured out how to render the letters on the keys.

Donny Reynolds, senior product manager for Chromebooks, said: "We are used to keyboards being in uppercase, but when you start writing a document, if you use a traditional keyboard, the letters you type are not the same as the letters displayed on the screen. No match, right? You pressed a capital "D," but a lowercase "d" appeared. So we decided to make it different on Chromebooks: whatever you press appears."

This makes sense, many of the design choices for our current keyboards were made during the typewriter era. In that era, lowercase letters did not exist, so all keys were represented by uppercase letters. But now that we've entered the digital age, maybe it's time to ditch some of the traditions we still have.
