Mi Yao, Minister of Intellectual Property Department of ZTE Corporation, said: "ZTE Corporation and vivo have reached a strategic cooperation, which reflects the respect of both parties for intellectual property rights. The cross-licensing agreement between the two parties also reflects the contribution of Chinese enterprises to each other's standards in the communications field. The mutual recognition of each other also demonstrates the determination and ability of domestic innovative enterprises to find win-win solutions."

According to reports, ZTE’s R&D investment in the first three quarters of 2023 reached 19.06 billion yuan, accounting for 21.3% of revenue. , has applied for more than 89,500 global patents.

It is worth mentioning that earlier today Huawei and vivo also announced the signing of a global patent cross-licensing agreement, which covers basic patents for cellular communication standards including 5G standards.

Huawei has successively announced the signing or renewal of patent cross-license agreements with major manufacturers in the industry such as Samsung, OPPO, Nokia, Ericsson, Xiaomi, and Sharp.

It is understood that Huawei owns 20% of 5G and WIFI6 patents, 10% of 4G patents, and 15% of NB-IoT and LTE-M patents worldwide.
