News from this site on March 20, Panasonic Avionics recently announced that it has begun delivering the first batch of Astrova IFE (this site’s note: In-flight Entertainment, in-flight entertainment) systems to Icelandair.
It is understood that the Astrova seatback entertainment system contains a HDR10 certified 4K OLED display and supports high-fidelity multi-channel Spatial audio, it can also provide USB PD charging up to 100W.

Screens using OLED technology can display deep blacks and movie-level picture quality while consuming less power. Due to its self-illuminating properties, the screen performs well on night flights and reduces disruption to passengers next to it.

The Astrova system adopts a modular design to facilitate hardware updates: If the CPU/GPU configured in the system is outdated, then It can be removed and replaced from the seat box; the USB-C port and Bluetooth are located in another module under the display, which is also removable.
Icelandair will use Panasonic’s Astrova system on its A321neo LR aircraft, with 16-inch monitors in business class and 13-inch screens in economy class.
Panasonic Avionics stated that the company has received more than 40 orders for the Astrova system, with customers including United Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, EgyptAir and other companies.
