According to news from this site on March 21, foreign media TechRadar Pro confirmed the specifications of Samsung’s PB SSD storage subscription plan, after the media first exposed the existence of this subscription service in January.
The subscription base of PB SSD storage service is 244TB. Five subscriptions can achieve a capacity of more than 1PB. Users can pay a fixed monthly fee of 1/ Order with a 3/5 year subscription.
Coming to the physical part of this storage subscription, Samsung here uses a PB SSD v2 storage server in a 1RU rack form factor.
Each PB SSD v2 server includes a fourth-generation AMD EPYC processor and accommodates 16 EDSFF E3.S specification solid-state drives, each with a capacity of 15.36TB. Samsung plans to increase the capacity of a single server to 2PB in the future.
The storage server’s 16 solid-state drives use the NVMe protocol, all of which are directly connected to the PCIe interface of the server CPU without going through PCIe Retimer (note on this site: retimer) and switches to achieve optimal performance. At the same time, it also reduces the energy consumption of the server.
Samsung said that the PB SSD v2 server is also equipped with "industry-advanced" power management and power consumption reporting functions, which can reduce operating TCO without sacrificing performance.
Specifically in terms of parameters, the fully powered PB SSD v2 server can provide 232GB/s sequential read, 98GB/s sequential write, 9550 KIOPS random read and 5075 KIOPS continuous random write enter.
The above is the detailed content of Samsung PB SSD subscription plan specs confirmed: 244TB capacity in 1RU rack. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
