The Raspberry Pi Foundation recently released the latest update for the Raspberry Pi OS. This update is based on the Debian GNU/Linux 12 "Bookworm" series, with the kernel upgraded to Linux 6.6 LTS. In addition, the system also adds support for the latest versions of Chromium 122 and Mozilla Firefox 123 web browsers.

The OS focuses on improving the power system and improving support for Raspberry Pi 5 SBC. In addition, it also adds
headless resolution to the "Screen Configuration" New settings, and also deleted Wayland's
headless resolution setting in "Raspberry Pi Configuration".

This updated version also further improves compatibility with other window managers, fixes issues with the new dark theme introduced in the previous version, ensures that all widgets display correctly, and also speeds up the Bluetooth and network menus opening speed.

Also, traditional windows have replaced pop-up windows on the taskbar. The Shutdown Assistant has also been upgraded and now shuts down all user processes on logout. Additionally, if no audio device is connected, the audio icon on the taskbar is hidden by default.

The new Raspberry Pi OS release also adds an alternative mouse pointer that appears during drag-and-drop operations, and updates the raspi-config utility to allow EEPROM updates.

The new version also updates the WayVNC VNC server to improve compatibility with various VNC clients and is controlled by systemd. Additionally, various bugs have been fixed, including preventing multiple file manager confirmation dialogs from overlapping, volume and Bluetooth menu memory leaks, and a crash when closing a window with a non-GTK header bar.
