According to news from this site on April 12, Micron submitted an 8-K major matter announcement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the 10th. It is expected that the earthquake in Taiwan at the beginning of this month will have a negative impact on its DRAM memory in the second quarter. Supply resulted in a "mid-single-digit percentage" impact.

Micron has two production bases in Taoyuan and Taichung in Taiwan. According to a previous report by TrendForce, the earthquake caused more than 60% of the wafers on the Taoyuan production line to be scrapped at that time.

Micron stated in the announcement that all Micron employees are safe and sound, facilities, infrastructure and production tools have not suffered permanent damage, long-term DRAM memory supply capabilities have not been affected.

Up to the time of publication of the announcement, Micron has not fully resumed DRAM production after the earthquake, but thanks to the previous earthquake-resistant construction, the recovery of the factory is progressing well.

Taking into account Micron’s share of the DRAM market, this site estimates that the earthquake’s impact on bit output in this quarter will be about 1%, which is also in line with TrendForce’s previous analysis.
