The report shows that Samsung ranks first in global smartphone sales, with a shipment share of 20%.

Due to high inventory backlog in the last quarter, Apple’s shipments fell by 13% year-on-year, ranking second (share is 17%).

Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo are also among the top five, with corresponding market shares of 14%, 8% and 7% respectively. Among the top five OEM manufacturers, Xiaomi has the fastest growth, with shipments increasing by 34% year-on-year.

The Android camp has never been able to compete with the iPhone in terms of average mobile phone prices, so it’s not surprising that Apple earns 90% of the industry’s profits.

In addition, Apple still ranks first in the industry in terms of average selling price of mobile phones, reaching US$900 (approximately 6,517 yuan), while Samsung’s is US$336 (approximately 2,430 yuan).

The corresponding average selling prices of OPPO, Xiaomi, and vivo are US$257 (approximately 1,860 yuan), US$211 (approximately 1,530 yuan), and US$159 (approximately 1,151 yuan) respectively.

The report also showed that smartphone shipments increased in the first quarter as emerging markets continued to maintain strong momentum, while Europe, especially Central Europe, compared with the difficult period in the first quarter of 2023 and Eastern Europe had the fastest growth.

In the first quarter of 2024, global smartphone revenue increased by 7% year-on-year and reached an all-time high in the first quarter.

The $800+ price segment is growing the fastest, achieving double-digit growth, accounting for 18% of smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2024, up from first in 2023 Quarterly growth of 2 percentage points.
