News on May 6, data released today by market research organization Canalys shows that in the first quarter of 2024, global tablet shipments increased slightly by 1%, reaching 33.7 million units.

Thanks to the recovery of consumer spending and the stabilization of the global economy, this is also the first time that the global tablet market has grown after four consecutive quarters of decline.

Huawei’s shipments surged by 70% to 2.7 million units, with a market share of 8.1%. This is the second consecutive quarter in which Huawei ranks third.

Canalys research manager Himani Mukka said: “Apple is expected to use OLED screens on iPad Pro, which marks a major shift in the display technology preferences of leading manufacturers in tablets. In addition, 2024 is bound to achieve new breakthroughs in the form and function of tablets, with manufacturers focusing on foldable designs and 3D images that can be viewed without wearing glasses.”
