mysql-什么类型用来获取表单复选框的值

在mysql中设置的字段类型为set
jsp页面上对应的是复选框checkbox，在持久化对象里相应的属性应该用什么呢？
private String xx?
private List xx?
还是什么？？上面这两个我都试了..第一个只能获取一个值，第二个报错。。。
