如果一定要学语言， 应该学JavaScript。现在的Web没有JS的页面不可想象，虽然各种JS框架、插件简化工作，但深入了解JS对象机制、有效的利用JS控制页面元素是非常非常重要和必要的。良好设计的UI，一定有优秀的JS在页面中工作。Java不是短期内可以学好的。只关注于Web开发，PHP世界足够大了。
VB是什么？微软自己都要抛弃的语言，你还学？ 个人强烈推荐JavaScript.
题主既然是做Web的，又是学PHP的，想必应该是玩网站后端的；如果想玩玩网站前端的话，JavaScript是必备的，因为JavaScript是目前网页上唯一支持的程序语言啊～学会了这玩意了之后，题主可以顺手自己改改前端的代码，或者说直接写个简单的前端了...然后一不小心就成为了一名全栈工程师了～～
JavaScript在设计之初，就是希望人们能够快速掌握它的.(因此它在很长一段时间里被人们当作＂玩具语言＂)而事实上JavaScript在许多特性上是和PHP一样的，比如泛型．所以只要不是学得太精细，JavaScript是很容易上手的．

然后就会自然而然的想到要补充一些其他的知识。这个时候是主观自发的，比你现在问别人要学什么要强的多。 我想，有一点你必须明确：无论你有多强的自控能力和学习能力，在短时间内掌握一门语言是很难的。而且这种浮躁的心态并不好。
针对你的问题，想学一门编程语言，而你的大方向又是WEB开发，那Java当然是不二选择。
不过你得做好长期学习的准备，Java可不是一两个月就可以掌握的哦。
