How to solve "Fatal error: Class 'MySQLi' not found"?

Question

I was doing a tutorial and got this error:

Fatal error: Class 'MySQLi' not found (long URL) on line 8

The code on line 8 is:

$mysqli = new MySQLi($db_server, $db_user, $db_pass, $db_name);

I saw online someone said to see if it was turned on in my phpinfo(), but there was nothing listed under "mysqli".

Also, I'm running PHP version 5.2.5

You can check whether the mysqli library exists by executing the following code:

if (!function_exists('mysqli_init') && !extension_loaded('mysqli')) {
    echo 'We don\'t have mysqli!!!';
} else {
    echo 'Phew we have it!';
}

Sounds like you just need to install MySQLi.
