Use JS to control playback quality

Is there any way to control the playback quality of videos using Javascript? More precisely, I want to select the video quality using JavaScript. Like I want to automatically run YouTube or any other video in 1080p when loading the browser in chrome or firefox instead of starting at 480/720P?

I prefer html/css, don't know how to use JS.

You should pass the &vq=hd1080 parameter to your YouTube link
