I am using both sublime and nodepad++; sublime has many extension plug-ins, such as the less highlighting that I have been using recently, its own console, etc. When used as a development tool, nodepad++ has fewer extensions and is now used as a preview file.
I recommend you try sublime text, which has a mac version, which is easier to use than notepad++.
