I also encountered this problem. Used nvdia graphics card. Open: Software and Updates-->Additional Drivers. Then installed the nvdia driver. Just restart it

For this kind of problem, just read the documentation, it’s not worth spending time. There are many problems with ubantu configuration. It is not worth focusing on system problems. You can use it after downloading 12.05. For normal installation, if the mirror is not available, I can provide it.

Install unity-tweak-tool

sudo apt-get install unity-tweak-tool

Open terminal permissions after installation

sudo unity-tweak-tool

Choose a font and try to modify it to see if it works.
