Celestia Foundation Raises 0M in Funding Round to Drive Innovation in Blockchain Scalability and Accessibility

Modular blockchain Celestia has announced a $100 million Series B funding round, led by Bain Capital Crypto and participated by Syncracy Capital, 1kx, Robot Ventures, Placeholder, and others.

This latest funding round brings the total capital raised by Celestia to $155 million. The funds will be used to further develop the Celestia modular blockchain and expand the team.

Celestia is a modular blockchain that provides a secure and scalable way for developers to launch their own blockchains and applications. Celestia’s modular architecture allows developers to choose the components that they need, such as the consensus mechanism, block size, and gas price. This flexibility makes Celestia ideal for a wide range of applications, from high-throughput payment networks to private enterprise blockchains.

Modular Blockchain Celestia Surges 250% After Mainnet Beta Launch, Closely Watched by Institutions

Celestia launched the world’s first modular consensus and data network in October 2023. Since launching its mainnet beta, an early developer ecosystem has emerged on the platform, with 20 rollup chains already deployed. Celestia data blobs are now in high demand and constitute over 50% of all data published by rollups.

Looking ahead, the core developer community for modular blockchain Celestia has an ambitious roadmap to scale the network up to 1-gigabyte blocks, a massive increase in data throughput in the ecosystem. When achieved, this could give it a capacity on par with several Visa networks running in parallel.
